Yeah! BP Has Capped the Gulf Oil Well... After 87 days
For the first time in 87 days, BP has shut off the gusher of oil in the Gulf of Mexico as it starts a critical well-integrity test that will help officials decide the best path forward to ultimately kill the well. Kent Wells, BP's senior vice president of exploration and production, said the well was fully shut in at 2:25 p.m. CDT. July 15, 2010

"As of that time, there is no flow of oil going into the Gulf of Mexico," Wells said. "This is an encouraging point of time."
